Global Warming

I'm not going to beat around the bush here. I'm going to be up front and honest: I do not believe for one second that mankind has had, or is having, anything to do with "global warming" or "climate change".
Why do I feel this way? I'm just going to make a list for you.
1. "Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn't it our responsibility to bring about?" - Maurice Strong
Who is Maurice Strong? Strong was the United Nations' first Executive Director of the UN's Environment Programme (UNEP). He also helped organize the 1992 Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro. This Summit was the predecessor to the Kyoto Protocol. This quote is the foundation of my belief that the entire movement that "global warming" is based on, is nothing more than a bold attempt to curb, and ultimately eliminate, capitalist economies around the world.
2. The models used to support the notion of an "alarming" trend of "global warming" rely heavily on assumptions and second guesses.
"Clearly, the data generated do not provide a meaningful foundation on which to base sound public policy decisions, especially something as significant as the decision to ratify Kyoto." - Dr. Kenneth Green, The Fraser Institute
There's also the fact that a lot of these models aren't allowed to be studied by critics.
3. The Sun is getting warmer.
"The sun is in a changed state. It is brighter than it was a few hundred years ago and this brightening started relatively recently -- in the last 100 to 150 years. Average global temperatures have increased by about 0.2 degrees Celsius (0.36 degrees Fahrenheit) over the past 20 years and are widely believed to be responsible for new extremes in weather patterns." - Sami Solanski, Director of the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research
4. The true environmental movement, the people and institutions that actually care about the environment, was hijacked a long time ago by socialists/communists. Communism failed and Capitalism thrived. These people, still clinging to their failed beliefs, found another way to express their hatred of the West. What do I base this on?
"Environmentalism was always anti-establishment, but in the early days of Greenpeace we did not characterise ourselves as left wing. That happened after the fall of the Berlin wall when a whole bunch of left wing activists, who no longer had any role in the peace, women's or labour movements, joined us. I would go to the Greenpeace Toronto office and there would be an awful lot of young people wearing army fatigues and red berets in there." - Patrick Moore, Founder of Greenpeace
5. The Earth has actually started to cool down.
"No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you'd expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years. The head of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has actually acknowledged it. He talks about the apparent plateau in temperatures so far this century. So he recognises that in this century, over the past eight years, temperatures have plateaued ... This is not what you'd expect, as I said, because if carbon dioxide is driving temperature then you'd expect that, given carbon dioxide levels have been continuing to increase, temperatures should be going up ... So (it's) very unexpected, not something that's being discussed. It should be being discussed, though, because it's very significant." - Jennifer Marohasy, Biologist and Senior Fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs in Melbourne, Australia
Usually when someone tries to counter the "global warming" argument, they are shouted down and accused of being an environmental rapist. There are even those who believe that if you don't think "global warming" is man-made then you're on par with a holocaust denier.
One of my personal heroes, and one of the greatest leaders this country has ever experienced, is Theodore Roosevelt. The man was a staunch environmentalist and conservationist. I get conservation and I whole heartedly agree with it. However, when idiotic laws are ratified that serve no purpose other than to ruin an economy, the proverbial line in the sand has been crossed.
When you see a 'talking head' on TV or hear Al Gore ranting and raving like a lunatic, just remember the five facts above. There's nothing wrong with being a true environmentalist. There's nothing wrong with trying to keep this beautiful planet as clean as possible. Promoting the lame ideas and philosophies of failed socialist/marxists, however, in the guise of "environmentalism", isn't the way to go. If you really want to help, go yell at some schmuck who throws trash out of his window...leave the guy driving the SUV alone.
