A Few Thoughts for a Friday...

1. The term "Czar" is this year's "Gang of _____". The Obama Administration now has about 20 new czars. They range from "pay czar" to "Great Lakes czar". There have been "czars" in other administrations too. This isn't a first. However, the thing that raises alarms (or should anyway) is the fact that these guys and gals answer to no one except Obama. There's a reason why there are Senate confirmations for cabinet positions. That makes those in control of agencies accountable to something other than one person. These new people can't even be summoned before Congress. That's a problem.
2. Speaking of the "pay czar", there are now rumblings from DC indicating that the government is going to start paying attention to ALL corporate pay rates...not just the companies that recieved 'bail out' money. "We believe that compensation practices must be better aligned with long-term value and prudent risk management at all firms, and not just for the financial services industry," said Gene Sperling, counselor to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Does anyone know what economic fascism is? That's when businesses/corporations are still owned by private entities, but are controlled by the government.
3. North Korea is preparing to test fire more missiles. Who knows though...with the threat of yet another resounding UN resolution aimed squarely at them, they may back off this time.
4. Former Senator, Max Cleland, is due to release his book soon. I'll bet my right arm that he whines about losing the 2002 Senate race to Saxby Chambliss. Just in case you've never seen it, below you'll find the "atrocious ad" that Chambliss ran in the campaign. According to all Liberals, Chambliss 'morphed' Cleland into Osama bin Laden. Watch the ad. Did you see any morphing?
It's not a lot today. But by God, its Friday. 8-)
