The Greatest Scam Ever

Well my wife and I made it back from San Francisco after a great vacation...and I'll tell you this, San Fran is a great city. I was thoroughly impressed. The food is outstanding, the people were friendly (except for that one jackhole who stole our cab), and its just as beautiful as I had hoped it would be.
It can get a bit pricey though...and I would advise you to bring winter gear with you if you plan on visiting in the spring and summer. Mark Twain said it best:
"The coldest winter I ever experienced was a summer in San Francisco."
We managed to see nearly everything we wanted to see and experience most of what the city had to offer, although we're looking forward to going back to make absolutely sure that we didn't miss anything.
One museum we went to helped spur today's rant/opinion/gospel. The San Francisco Academy of Science has an entire section devoted to Global Warming and how Man has screwed planet Earth since we first crawled out of the swamps. I couldn't help but notice the number of kids walking around looking at the displays and soaking up the Al Gore dvds playing on continuous loops. Thankfully, there was a "message board" display where people could leave their comments on better to save the Earth. Me being me, I had to leave my smartass comment for all to see. It went something like this:
"Maybe you should start researching the role of the Sun (and its current warming trend) on the Earth and how it MIGHT have an impact on the Earth's 'warming'...I know its a novel concept. Oh, and stop listening to Al Gore."
I would've been shocked if my comment had lasted 15 minutes before some Pelosi-Greenie trashed it. But anyway...
Before I begin, I'd like to address another stereotype that's been super-glued to conservatives. Much like the way I'm branded as being a homophobic, racist, anti-immigrant war criminal; I'm also labeled as anti-environment. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just because I believe that man's impact on this planet's weather patterns are 1/1000 what global warming enthusiasts claim they are, doesn't make me a nature-hater. I don't sit behind desks at Exxon cackling maniacly while millions of barrels of oil are dumped into the ocean. Hardly. I'm a Teddy Roosevelt conservative. You will not find a more environmentally-friendly leader in all of U.S. history. The man patented the idea of national parks and refuges for crying out loud. So please spare me the rancor...
There are many reasons why sane people should take this 'Global Warming' nonsense with a grain of salt. At the top of said list are the people who constantly try to shove it down our throats. Here are a few gems to mull over...
1. "A global climate treaty must be implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the greenhouse effect."
-Richard Benedict, State Department/Conservation Fund
2. "Unless we announce disasters no one will listen." - Sir John Houghton, First Chairman of the IPCC
3. “No matter if the science is all phoney, there are collateral environmental benefits.... climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.” - Christine Stewart, Canadian Environment Minister, 1998
4. “Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn't it our responsibility to bring that about?” - Maurice Strong, The Rio Earth Summit, 1992
5. “The answer to global warming is in the abolition of private property and production for human need. A socialist world would place an enormous priority on alternative energy sources. This is what ecologically-minded socialists have been exploring for quite some time now.” - Louis Proyect, Columbia University
There are two very big things wrong with any argument presented as evidence supporting "Global Warming"...or, as its called these days, "climate change".
1. The foretold cataclysm is based on theoretical computer models; designed and programed by biased human data.
2. The people that started this whole phenomenon are socialists/Marxists who failed to bring down the West (i.e. Capitalism) via their failed socialist/governmental endeavours of the past century.
The entire premise of 'global warming' is built upon the idea that some people have too much and others don't...so therefore, any and all measures must be taken to balance that global inequity out. The Kyoto Protocol, which thankfully the U.S. still hasn't ratified, is a testament to this. Two of the largest polluters, India and China, are exempt from the guidelines completely. Why? They are still "developing". Even those nations that jumped on board with both feet are facing the consequences and staring reality in the face. European CO2 emissions are still escalating, despite the fact that most European governments have hamstrung themselves trying to reach Kyoto's ridiculous goals.
The cult surrounding 'global warming' refuses to acknowledge simple, substantiated facts like the sun getting warmer and other planets in our solar system getting warmer (namely Mars...and last I checked SUVs and Exxon weren't based on Mars). Any who deny their arguments are shouted down and out, ridiculed, and ostracized by their frumpish clique. It's sort of become its own religion. Keep in mind, that these same people that are jumping up and down now were crying a river about 30 years ago as well...not about global warming, but about the dangers of global cooling. Both Newsweek and Time magazines ran multiple stories heralding the end of world by ice.
"If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder by the year 2000...This is about twice what it would take to put us in an ice age." - Kenneth Watt, Earth Day, 1970
"This cooling has already killed hundreds of thousands of people. If it continues and no strong action is taken, it will cause world famine, world chaos and world war, and this could all come about before the year 2000." - Lowell Ponte, 1976
So I ask...why the Hell are we even listening to these people? Are some just that gullible?
