Of teabags and anchors...

"It's hard to talk when you're teabagging." - Anderson Cooper, CNN
"They want to give President Obama a strong tongue-lashing and lick government spending." - David Shuster, MSNBC
"Sir, what does this have to do with taxes? What does this have to do with your taxes? Do you realize that you are eligible for a $400 credit...Wait. Did you know that--did you know that the State of Lincoln gets $50 billion out of this stimulus? That's $50 billion for this state, sir." - Susan Roesgen, CNN
"Let's be very honest about what this is about. This is not about bashing Democrats. It's not about taxes. They have no idea what the Boston Tea Party was about. They don't know their history at all. It's about hating a black man in the White House." - Janeane Garofalo, "actress"
Wow! Those are some great quotes. They are all referencing/discussing an event that happened on Wednesday. Tens of thousands of people participated in rallies in every state to protest excessive government spending and over-taxation. These protests were dubbed "TEA parties" - short for Taxed Enough Already...with obvious references to the infamous Boston Tea Party of 1773.
If Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert had uttered these comments, I would have openly laughed. That's what they do. I expect this from them. However, when supposed serious news networks and professional journalists partake in the potty humor, all you can really do is roll your eyes. It really is fairly obvious why these networks barely pull in a million viewers every night. They've jumped the shark now on multiple ocassions. Susan Roesgen went on, after becoming an official Obama spokeswoman, to label the crowd in Chicago as "anti-government" and "anti-CNN"...and she wasn't surprised because all of it was being pushed by the "ultra-conservative, right wing, FOX News". (We won't tell Susan that a Pew Survey late last year showed that FOX News' audience breakdown was 39% Republican, 33% Democrat, and 22% Independent - hardly ultra-conservative.) This wasn't a Democrat vs. Republican bout. People from both parties participated in these rallies. In fact, some Republican representatives were spit upon at a Georgia rally. (How the rep held it together is beyond me...spitting is one of the ultimate insults and if I had been in his shoes I probably would be in jail right now...but that's just me.)
Then, of course, we have Janeane Garofalo. She has the typical liberal mindset. I'm really not all that concerned with her lack of understanding of U.S. History (yeah she was wrong about the Boston Tea Party - colonists threw the taxed tea into Boston Harbor because they believed the taxation was unconstitutional). First of all, please note that she can't for the life of her even comprehend what these protests were about. The vast majority of these people across the nation were angry with the fact that their government is completely out of control on spending money that we send up to DC. We are now printing more money that can't even be backed up by hard currency...then spending that money on massive, idiotic government programs. To the Janeane Garofalos of the world, that's perfectly acceptable. In her realm of existence it's much better to have a perceived bigger heart than the tiniest of brains. "Judge not my results, only my intentions"...it has been, currently is, and will forever be the liberal mantra.
One of the best illustrations I've ever heard goes something like this...
You and a friend are walking down a public sidewalk when you come upon a homeless individual. Question: Do you have the right to reach into your pocket, pull out a $20 bill and hand it to the guy? Any sane person would say yes, of course you have that right. Now...lets change the scenario a bit.
You and the same friend are walking down the same sidewalk and stumble upon the same homeless individual. New Question: Does your friend have the right to pull out a gun, stick it to your head, and then order you to give the homeless guy $20? Well, well, well...that stirs the puddin' a bit, doesn't it? Your first gut response, by the way, is correct..."hell no!" Well that's exactly what the Federal government does everyday. They confiscate your money, under the threat of force, and then spend it as they see fit. You have no say in the matter whatsoever. Now does this mean, that I'm against taxation? No, of course it doesn't. In order to operate any nation effeciently, you need some form of taxation. My contempt and disgust stems from the fact that our government spends money to buy votes...and unfortunately there's enough uneducated in this nation to fall for it hook, line, and sinker. This is only going to get worse. George Bush became a big spender through his eight years in office...Barack Obama is going to make him look thrifty and frugal by the time he's done. To Obama, government is the answer to everything. He will continue to punish those with money and give to those who don't. How the two groups got where they are, be damned. Margaret Thatcher said it best: "Socialism works great until you run out of other people's money."
The last thing Garofalo said may irritate me more than anything else: "It's about hating a black man in the White House." This is absolutely absurd, and unfortunately an all too common trump card in the liberal deck of crap. Note she doesn't argue the actual message of the protesters...she automatically assumes that because they disagree with Obama, they are racists. Everyone should have seen this coming. It was highlighted over and over again in the campaign. The race card will always be locked and loaded as long as Obama is in the White House. Could she make a valid point as to why our ridiculous tax rates are needed and just? No. Could she argue that our tax laws are appropriate, even though they weigh a few tons? No. She falls back on the standard insult: You disagree with President Obama, therefore you are a racist. The End. It absolutely infuriates me when this tact is taken. It's bad when people use it...its even worse when brain dead idiots the media goes along with it and allows it to happen. They are supposed to be the gateway of knowledge and communication between us and them...not the enablers of a certain party or administration.
These types of incidents are only going to grow in number, folks. I'm interested to see how it all turns out...and if our nation will survive it. Maybe, Rick Perry has a point...
